The construction project

The Schwamendingen enclosure extends between the Zurich-East motorway junction and the Schöneleich tunnel over a length of 940 m. The enclosure covers one of the busiest roads in Switzerland and minimizes the impacts caused by the motorway, such as noise and exhaust fumes.

It connects to the adjacent Schönleich tunnel, which has been technically re-equipped. The enclosure will help Schwamendingen to achieve a new quality of life and a green area will be created on the roof of the enclosure for the local population.

Hodapp Tunnel Sliding Gate (HTS):

Our sliding gates are manufactured as individual special designs so that they can be perfectly adapted to the building. One of Hodapp's specialties is large-format fire protection gates.

These include fire protection swing gates and sliding gates with special dimensions: the double-leaf special formats are up to 14 meters wide and three meters high. Fire protection sliding gates are often installed in concealed wall niches and thus remain invisible even through the inlet flaps while remaining fully functional. In dangerous situations, people can leave the tunnel tube along the marked escape route through the fire protection sliding gate into a fire-safe area.
