The construction project

As part of the Fréjus Road Tunnel – Second Tube (G2) project, Hodapp GmbH & Co. KG, in cooperation with Hodapp France SARL, supplied and installed a total of 320 specially manufactured fire barriers.
The doors serve to securely close off escape and rescue routes and technical rooms, ensuring maximum safety for tunnel users and emergency personnel in the event of an incident. Due to their high-quality workmanship, tested fire resistance, and high pressure resistance, they represent an essential component of the technical tunnel infrastructure.

Technical design:

The safety equipment includes extensive door technology, supplied by Hodapp GmbH & Co. KG in conjunction with Hodapp France SARL. A total of 320 fire doors were installed, meeting specific fire and pressure resistance requirements.

  • 68 stainless steel doors, hinged doors, fire protection HCM-120/CN-240 (emergency exits)

  • 68 stainless steel doors, sliding doors, fire protection EI2-120 (emergency exits)

  • 12 stainless steel doors, hinged doors, fire protection HCM (technical rooms)

  • 18 motorized large gates (fire department access), remotely controlled via the control center, fire protection HCM-120/CN240

  • 16 stainless steel doors, pivoting, fire protection EI2-120 (technical rooms)

  • 138 galvanized steel doors, swing doors, fire protection EI2-60 / EI2-120 (technical rooms)
